Environmental activities

KPC Kiunduani Water project
KPC initiated the Kiunduani Water Project in response to the needs of the community in Makindu. This project has alleviated water problems to over 1000 homesteads in the region of Makindu in Eastern province. The area is dry and people had to walk long distances in search of water for both domestic use and livestock. In some of the cases, people were knocked down by vehicles on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway while crossing to look for water.

The Company has not only provided clean and safe water to the community but also opened up the region to development like the coming up of new schools and also other economic ventures like the plans to have irrigation for tree seedlings and brick making. This is expected to elevate the standards of living of the local people and also build some sense of ownership in protecting the pipeline installation.
